Singer Sinéad O'Connor dies aged 56

Dublin singer Sinéad O'Connor has died aged 56, reports the Irish Times. She was known for her famous cover of Prince's hit Nothing Compares 2 U. The song was named Single of the Year 1990 at the Billboard Music Awards.
 
The Irish singer also released 10 studio albums in her career. "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinead," the family said in a statement released by public broadcaster RTE. "Her family and friends are devastated. »
 
A year ago, her 17-year-old son Shane committed suicide after running away from a hospital.
