American super star Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to help victims of the hurricanes in the southeastern United States, to “rebuild and heal”.
Category 3 Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida on Wednesday. It comes just weeks after another devastating hurricane, Helene in the southeastern United States. “We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous donation of $5 million dedicated to Hurricane Milton and Helene relief efforts,” commented Feeding America executive director Claire Babineaux-Fontenot in a statement posted on social network X.
This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover from disasters, providing food, drinking water and supplies to victims. “Together, we can make a real impact to support families as they face the challenges ahead. Thank you Taylor for standing by us,” the statement continued. The charity invited people to “join Taylor if you are in a position to do so by making a donation”.
The 34-year-old world-famous singer is renowned for her charity work, having donated funds to British food banks when her Eras Tour visited Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London this summer. She also recently donated $100,000 to a campaign in support of the family of a mass murder victim at the Super Bowl soccer final celebrations in Kansas City.
Another American singer with country roots, Dolly Parton, had previously donated a million dollars to the Mountain Ways Foundation, to help victims of the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene.
