This polyester suit was fashionable: John Travolta's outfit in Saturday Night Fever put up for auction

The iconic white suit of John Travolta in the cult film "Saturday Night Fever" is exposed by an auction house before its sale. Symbol of disco music, the three-piece suit with elephant feet in which the American actor wiggled in 1977 on the music of the Bee Gees should go to several hundred thousand dollars - an analysis estimates it between 100,000 and 200,000 dollars.
"Back then, there were two television channels, four if you were lucky. To see movies you had to go to the theater, there was no entertainment on screens while traveling, there was no video on demand, no videos that kept coming to your cell phone. You had to save up to go to the movies, see a movie and take note of all the details, go and review the movie and take a good look at what the characters were wearing. Because people wanted to emulate that. That polyester suit, it was fashionable, it was the fashionable fabric, not like today. That's what people were looking at," recalls Martin Nolan, director of the auction.
