Health pass in France: relaxations announced
Eva Deschamps / August 8, 2021
The French Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced relaxations in the application of the health pass, which will be extended Monday to many places, including restaurants, in an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien to be published Sunday.
Already required in the places of culture since the end of July, the health pass takes the form of a QR code testifying to a complete vaccination scheme, the negativity of a Covid-19 test or the recovery of the disease. From now on, a negative test will be valid for 72 hours and not 48 hours for non-vaccinated people, said the minister, after the fourth Saturday of mobilization of opponents of the health pass, which gathered 237,000 demonstrators across France.
Another relaxation: it will be possible to carry out self-tests supervised by a health professional, in addition to the antigenic and PCR tests. These too will be valid for 72 hours. The pass will not be required for a visit to a general practitioner, the minister said. On the other hand in hospitals, it will be but in no case it should be a brake to access useful and urgent care, he said.
