Jonathan Destin, symbol of the fight against school bullying who set himself on fire, has died: autopsy confirms natural cause

Steph Deschamps / August 28, 2022

The mother of Jonathan Destin, who died last Saturday in his sleep at the age of 27, announced on social networks the result of the autopsy. The young Marquettois, symbol of the fight against school bullying, died of natural causes.

The results of the examination attest that Jonathan died of natural causes, that his heart was tired, that he had too much suffering, too much care, he died in his sleep. Marie-Pierre Destin communicated Thursday, via the Facebook page of her son, the conclusions of the autopsy conducted by the police after the discovery of the body of Jonathan Destin last Saturday. A frequent request in the context of an investigation in search of the causes of death.

The Marquettois had undergone twenty-three operations after attempting to end his life in 2011 by immolating himself, before throwing himself into the Deûle. Harassed at school for six years, Jonathan Destin had become the symbol of the fight against school bullying in France. He told his story in a book, Condamné à me tuer, which was later adapted for television.

The funeral of Jonathan Destin will take place this Monday, August 29, at 9:30 a.m., at the Saint-Amand church, in Marquette-lez-Lille.
