Biden: his dogs were expelled from the White House after a biting incident

Back in the kennel: U.S. President Joe Biden sent his two dogs back to his home in Wilmington, Delaware, after a bite incident involving a White House security official, according to U.S. media reports on Monday.

Major, 3, the youngest of the presidential couple's two German shepherds, has been behaving aggressively, including jumping, barking and charging White House staff and security guards, CNN reported, citing two anonymous sources.

The sources referred to a biting incident, without specifying whether there had been any injuries. However, the episode was considered serious enough that the two dogs, including 13-year-old Champ, were sent back to the Biden home in Wilmington last week.

Major, adopted from an animal shelter by Joe Biden and his wife Jill in November 2018, was the first shelter dog to live in the White House, having moved in after the inauguration in January.

Donald Trump did not have a pet at the White House.

It was not possible to know immediately when - or if - the dogs would be allowed to return.

In an interview last month, First Lady Jill Biden expressed concern about the dogs moving into their new home in Washington.

They have to take the elevator, which they are not used to, and they have to go out on the south lawn with a lot of people watching them. So that's what I'm obsessed with: that everyone settle down and stay calm, she told NBC.
