Former U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter passes away

Former U.S. First Lady Rosalynn Carter, 96, had been receiving palliative care at home, alongside her husband who was also nearing the end of his life, since Friday.
  
The former First Lady of the United States, Rosalynn Carter, died on Sunday at the age of 96 at her home in Plains, Georgia, announced the Carter Center, an NGO founded by the former First Lady and her husband, Jimmy Carter.
 
"Rosalynn was my equal in everything I accomplished," reacted Mr. Carter, who was the 39th President of the United States. "She gave me sound advice and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was around, I knew there was someone who loved and supported me. »
  
The couple had three children, eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
 
The 99-year-old former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner has been under palliative care since February at the couple's home in Plains, Georgia.
 
Having served a single term in the White House from 1977 to 1981, he is the oldest living American president.
