Shooting injures several at Milwaukee shopping center in the United States: man on the run

Several people were injured in a shooting Friday afternoon inside the Mayfair Mall supermarket in the town of Wauwatosa near Milwaukee, in the US state of Wisconsin, local media reported.

The number of victims and the severity of their injuries were not immediately known.

The shooting occurred inside the Mayfair Mall supermarket in the town of Wauwatosa, a suburb of Milwaukee, the largest city in that northern state, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

At least 40 law enforcement vehicles were present, the same source, as well as ambulances in which several injured people were taken.

Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department tweeted to be on site "in response to a shooting," alongside Wauwatosa City Police.

The assailant is "on the run," Wauwatosa City Mayor Dennis McBride said, according to ABC News. According to him, the lives of those injured were not in danger, the outlet reported.
