The rumors were true, former President Donald Trump will make his 2024 presidential bid official.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, whom all rumors said was ready to run again for the White House, will declare Tuesday that he is "candidate for the election" of 2024, confirmed one of his close advisers.

The real estate mogul had previously hinted that he might run, promising that he would make a "big announcement" from his Florida home, Mar-A-Lago - the content of which was no longer really suspenseful in recent days.

"President Trump will announce on Tuesday that he is a presidential candidate. And it will be a very professional, very careful announcement," said his adviser Jason Miller on "War Room," the podcast of Steve Bannon, another close friend of Donald Trump.

The 76-year-old Republican believes the question of his candidacy "doesn't even arise," Miller said, saying he spoke to him earlier in the day.

Of course I'm running. I'm going to do it, and I want to make sure that people know that I'm fired up and we've got to get this country back on track," Donald Trump reportedly assured her.

"Everybody knows I'm going to run, so let's go," he reportedly added.

Donald Trump's candidacy will be his third for the White House. But even if his influence on the Republican Party remains undeniable, he is weakened by last Tuesday's midterm elections, in which many of his lieutenants disappointed.

The conservative "wave" so hoped for by his supporters did not break and, although the final results are not yet known, the Democrats seem to have succeeded in limiting the damage.

The 2024 election could be a remake of the 2020 election: his then opponent, current Democratic President Joe Biden, reaffirmed this week his "intention" to run for a second term. But he has been careful to postpone any final decision until next year.
